Michelle Duggar

Expecting baby #20!! Congrats to them but I really hope she doesn't have the complications she had with #19.

Re: Michelle Duggar

  • Ugh - I was hoping that wasn't what this was going to say.  And this is coming from a total Duggar lover.  After their issues with Josie, I was hoping they were going to let her poor body rest.

  • DH is at home w/ DS while I'm at my checkup/glucose test this morning, and he texted me as soon as they made the announcement. I really hope for the baby's sake that she doesn't have health complications again resulting in such a premature birth...

  • Ugh. I remember hearing somewhere that the Duggars would stop when they had a "sign from God". Wasn't baby #19's premature birth enough of a sign? Are they waiting for her to mc or worse, give birth to a baby who is too young to survive? Geesh at this point they are just being selfish.

  • So she's been pregnant for like what, every year she's been married?
  • I love the Duggars. Embarrassed To each their own...I would have lost my mind about 15 kids ago, but they seem to have happy and well adjusted children. I really hope that this pregnancy doesn't have the same complications though.

  • I feel really bad for her older children.  They don't seem to have a typical teenage life.  They spend all their time taking care of the younger children.  If Michelle and Jim Bob want to have all those children that's fine but they should be the primary caretakers not the other children.  If they can't then they shouldn't be having all of those children.

It really made me mad when I saw an episode where Michelle was talking about her high school years when she was cheerleader and participated in other after school activities.  She has taken that opportunity away from her own children by expecting them to help her care for the younger children.  What's really sad is that the older ones truly believe they are happy with this arrangement because it seems that they have not been given the opportunity to experience those fun teenage times/activities.

  • Did the Duggar's pay for all of Josie's medical expenses?

Yes This is the part that bugs me.

I think they're too emeshed in the family unit to have a life of their own.

  • I love the Duggars, I appreciate that they don't live off government assistance and have strong moral values. However, I think enough is enough. Their last pregnancy should have been a sign that it was time to stop. Hoping this baby is born happy and healthy and that they truly call it quits at 20.

  • They clearly have a lot of love to give and know how to raise a family. I wish they would consider giving a home to a child that doesn't have one instead of having more biological children.

    Ditto!

It's great that they are able to have so many children and provide for their children, but at some point they have to think that there are other children in the world that could use a good home.

  • I think after they had Josie they should of stopped. Obviously no one wants to have a preemie, but it could happen again. I would understand if they only had one child and wanted to go for another one, but YOU have 19!

Does Jim Bob work for a company? Or are they in business for themselves? Obviously a NICU  stay as long as Josie's, was very costly. And most of time that's covered by your insurance.

They're in business for themselves - they own properties, plus the car lot, remember?

They always say they don't take any assistance, etc., but they totally take the tax write-off on all those kids.

  • I hope that she has a healthy and safe pregnancy and delivery.

Since I consider myself pro-choice and this is her choice, I say anything other than that. While it's not how I want to live my life, it works for their family.

I'm pro-choice too, but I still think its crazy to have that many kids.  You may call me Judge Judy

This is my view. Since i consider myself pro-choice, i would be hypocritical if i did not also support the choice to have as many children as you want and can support. Even if i would never in a million years do it myself

  • Is speculating about MD's pregnancy and the advisability of it (or not) anti-choice?

Is speculating about MD's pregnancy and the advisability of it (or not) anti-choice?

I have seen so much commentary about her on FB today- all from women, who most likely consider themselves pro-choice. I think suggesting that someone be sterilized (yes, one of my FB friends suggested that someone hold her down by her bangs...) is anti-choice.

I think there are tons of women out there who get pregnant and have kids and shouldn't. I haven't heard anything directly linking the fact that she had had 18 children (fewer pregnancies since there are at least 2 sets of twins, right?) to the issues/early delivery she had in her last pregnancy. If anything, I would think that her issues are probably more a result of her age than her previous pregnancies.

I haven't read anything about Michelle's OB-GYN recently, but I saw the doctor she saw for most of her prenatal care, and deliveries, etc. in a TV interview say that MD is just really good at getting/being pregnant, having healthy babies, etc.

  • Aren't they running out of J names by now???  When I found out that they would be making an announcement on the Today Show today, I assumed it would be a pregnancy announcement for Josh & Anna.  Although did she have Baby #2 yet?

  • I saw a funny picture online of the Duggar family online with the caption: "Vagina: It's not a clown car." I'm not passing judgment on her choices, but man...I cannot imagine having that many kids!

Yes, four months ago, baby Michael.

  • I think it's a stretch to call questioning the sanity of a 20th child "anti-choice". I'd question the sanity of a third abortion, and I don't think that makes me "anti-choice", either. That makes me anti-bad-decision. My third abortion point is hypothetical, but depending upon the details, I'd judge the shiz out of that, too.
